Fisherman’s Rib Jumper Pattern

Fisherman rib jumpers are usually difficult patterns. But this pattern won’t force you, because it’s an easy pattern even for beginners.

How to do it:

How to knit fisherman rib jumper

Row 1: Complete the row knitting 2, purling 2, knitting 2.

Row 2: Knit all stitches.

Row 3: Repeat the pattern as from the 1st row.

BACK SIDE:

Cast on 60 stitches as circular rib and rib 2×2 for 7 cm with 120 stitches. Knit body for 46 cm and cast off 3+2+1+1 stitches at both sides for the armhole. When the body measures 68 cm, center the stitches for the neck; cast off 46 stitches in the middle together and each 30 stitches remaining on the shoulders in the next row in 3 steps and then bind off.

FRONT SIDE:

It is knitted as the back body. The body is knitted for 60 cm and it is cast off 16 stitches in the front middle part for the neck and it is continued to knit in 2 pieces. Cast off 5+5+3+1+1 stitches in every row at both sides of the neck. When the body measures 68 cm, cast off each 30 stitches remaining on the shoulders in 3 steps and bind off.

SLEEVES:

Cast on 30 stitches as circular rib and rib 2×2 for 8 cm with 60 stitches. Increase 1 stitch at both sides 10 times spacing 4 rows and reach to 80 stitches. Knit sleeve for 48 cm and cast off 1 stitch at both sides 3+2+24 times for the armhole. When the sleeve measures 64 cm, cast off remaining 22 stitches together and bind off. Knit the other sleeve in the same way.

NECK:

Cast on 30 stitches as circular rib and rib 2×2 for 4 cm with 60 stitches. Then sew around the neck loop by loop.

  • What type/weight/yardage of yarn did you use? It just says “7 balls,” but the amount of yarn in a ball can vary greatly from one yarn to the next.
