Long Cardigan Pattern For Women

How to do it:

BACK PIECE:

1- Cast on 90 stitches and work as garter stitch along the body length.

2- When body length is 80 cm, increase 20 x 1 stitches at both ends on each row for armholes to obtain 120 stitches.

3- Starting from the next row, decrease 40 x 1 stitches at both ends on each row.

4- When body length is 122 cm, center the stitches for neck opening and finish by casting off 30 stitches in the middle at once, and on the next row, casting off 5 stitches remained on shoulders.

FRONT PIECES:

1- Cast on 50 stitches and work as garter stitch along the body length.

2- When body length is 80 cm, increase 20 x 1 stitches at one end on every row for armhole to obtain 70 stitches.

3- Starting from the next row, decrease 40 x 1 stitches at the end of increase on every row.

4- When body length is 121 cm, decrease 10+10+5 stitches on every row at center front for neck opening.

SLEEVES:

1- Cast on 59 stitches. Work 1+2 rib along knitting.

2- Increase 10 x 1 stitches at both ends at every 5 rows to obtain 69 stitches.

3- When sleeve length is 30 cm, decrease 2+30 times 1 stitch each at both ends for armholes.

4- When sleeve length is 48 cm, finish by binding off the remaining 5 stitches.

POCKETS:

1- Work them on front and body pieces separately. Pick up 30 stitches onto needle from the part of 16 cm shown in the sketch for pocket. Work garter stitch.

2- Finish after working 15 cm. Sew the side seams.

  • Please could you clarify : see below = 90 stitches +20 stitches incr does not equal 120. Have i misunderstood something? Also is it EACH row or EVERY OTHER row? Maybe I am just not reading it clearly as INCR on each row would make a very short section for the part of the armhole. And the decrease on EACH row would also do this.

Perhaps I just dont understand your wording?

1- Cast on 90 stitches and work as garter stitch along the body length.

2- When body length is 80 cm, increase 20 x 1 stitches at both ends on each row for armholes to obtain 120 stitches.

    • It's not you, there appears to be several mistakes in the pattern or else the method is not clear, either way based on these directions, you will not get this sweater.

    • Did you get a reply to your questions? I’m up to the armholes and didn’t read it properly until now and yes to get 120 we add in 15 per side!

      • It's 2023 and still no answers to any of the questions. I honestly think it's a mess of a pattern between counting errors and poor translations. I intend to use it as a guide to create my own pattern and project.
