How to knit popcorn sweater:
INSTRUCTIONS FOR LEAF PATTERN:
Row 1: Complete the row as follows: purl 2, make 4 through the 3rd stitch, purl 2, make 4 through the 3rd stitch.
Row 2: While knitting the stitches purled in the 1st row, purl other stitches.
Row 3: Complete the row working as follows: purl 2, knit 4, purl 2, knit 4.
Row 4: Knit the stitches following their existing pattern.
Row 5: Knit as the 3rd row.
Row 6: Knit as the 4th row.
Row 7: Complete the row working as follows: purl 2, pick up next 2 stch tog and cast off 1, pick up next 2 knit stch tog and cast off 1, purl 2, pick up next 2 knit stch tog and cast off 1, pick up next 2 knit stch tog and cast off 1, knit 2….
Row 8: Knit the stitches following their existing pattern.
Row 9: Complete the row working as follows: purl 2, while picking next 2 knit stch tog, make 4 stch through them, purl 2, while picking next 2 knit stch tog, make 4 stch through the stitches picked tog, purl 2.
Row 10: Repeat the pattern as from the 2nd row.
POPCORN ROW PATTERN:
Row 1: Complete the row working as follows: knit 3, slip the 3rd and 2nd purling stitches to the left needle, the yarn on the front
Row 2: Purl the stitches.
Row 3: Repeat the pattern as from the 1st row.
BACK SIDE:
Cast on 56 stitches with yarn color no.60077 and rib 2×2 for 3 cm. Work popcorn row pattern on 6 stitches at both sides and apply leaf pattern on 44 stitches in the middle. When the body measures 21 cm, knit the stitches worked in popcorn row pattern at both sides for the armhole, then cast off 1 stitch 14 times in every row. When the body measures 31 cm, cast off stitches together and bind off.
FRONT SIDE:
Cast on 28 stitches with yarn color no.60077 and rib 2×2 for 3 cm. Beginning from the front middle part, work as follows: rib 2×2 on 6 stitches, work 3 stitches of popcorn row pattern, knit 17, work 7 stitches of popcorn row pattern. When the body measures 21 cm, work popcorn row pattern on 7 stitches at one side for the armhole. After that, cast off 1 stitch 14 times. Meanwhile when the body measures 26 cm, cast off 4+3+2+1 stitches for the neck in the front middle part. When the body measures 31 cm, cast off remaining 4 stitches on the shoulders together and bind off. Knit the other front piece in the same way. It is opened 4 buttonholes spacing 6 cm in the front right body.
SLEEVES:
Cast on 30 stitches. Rib 2×2 for 4 cm and change to leaf pattern. When the sleeve measures 20 cm, cast off 1 stitch at both sides 10 times in every row for the armhole. When the sleeve measures 30 cm, cast off remaining 10 stitches together and bind off. Knit the other sleeve in the same way.
NECK:
Pick up 84 stitches on the needle around the neck with yarn color no.229. While ribbing 2×2 on 4 stitches at both sides with yarn color no.60077, knit 76 stitches with yarn color no.229. When the neck measures 6 cm, rib 1×1 on all stitches for 2 cm with yarn color no.60077 and cast off stitches together and bind off.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FLOWER:
Fold the yarn in 2 with yarn color no.229 and chain for 2.5 m. Give the shape of the flower on the front bodies as seen on the schematic.
