Children’s Cardigan Knitting Pattern: Dream

How to knit a child’s cardigan

Instructions:

Color order: Knit for 4.5 cm with yarn color no.23050 and for 4.5 cm with yarn color no.23052. Continue with yarn color no.208.

BACK SIDE:

Cast on 68 stitches. Apply the pattern according to the given color order. Knit body for 13.5 cm and continue with knit stitch. Cast off 1 stitch 6 times spacing 10 stitches in the first row. Knit body for 20 cm and cast off 3+2+1 stitches at both sides for the armhole. When the body measures 29 cm, center the stitches for the neck and  cast off 14 stitches in the middle part. And continue knitting in 2 pieces. Cast off 2 stitches at both sides of the neck. In the next row, cast off each 16 stitches remaining on the shoulders and finish off.

FRONT SIDE:

Cast on 43 stitches. Apply the color order on the back body and the pattern. Work garter stitch along 7 stitches in the front middle part throughout the body. Knit body for 20 cm and cast off 3+2+1 stitches at one side for the armhole. When the body measures 23 cm, cast off 1 stitch 7+5+3+2+4 times in the front middle part for the neck. When the body measures 30 cm, cast off 16 stitches remaining on the shoulders  in 3 steps and bind off. Knit the other front piece in the same way. Open 4 buttonholes spacing 7 cm on the right side.

SLEEVES:

Cast on 36 stitches. Apply the color order on the bodies and pattern.  Increase 1 stitch at both sides 7 times spacing 4 rows and reach to 50 stitches. Knit sleeve for 20 cm and cast off 1 stitch at both sides 3+2+13 times for the armhole. When the sleeve measures 28 cm, cast off remaining 14 stitches together and bind off. Knit the other sleeve in the same way.

NECK:

Pick up 63 stitches on the needle around the neck with yarn color no.208. Knit garter stitch for 2 cm and cast off stitches together and finish off.
